March 28th, 2012 - Possible New Life for PRO140
The monoclonal antibody PRO140, which is the most developed antibody therapy for HIV at this point with compelling phase II clinical data, may be getting a new home with a company who has their own antibody technology against a different target. This union of antibodies under one roof has the potential to benefit both technologies as an approval from the FDA for either will be beneficial for both and for the generation that will inevitably follow. The companies are in negotiations and Search For A Cure is supportive of an agreement being made. Click read more to see the whole story.

March 15th, 2012 - Therapeutic Monoclonal Antibodies
As we indicated to our friends at AIDS Project Los Angeles we are returning from our last visit to update them on our understanding of the field of monoclonal antibodies for HIV therapy. We have learned much since our last visit in 2010 and feel it is more important than ever to pursue development in this field and deliver a long-term ARV option. Please click read more to explore the full transcript from our January 13th Meeting, a collaborative article co-written with John James of AIDS Treatment News, and more.
January 13th, 2012 - A Meeting Regarding the Therapeutic Potential of Antibodies for HIV
In light of the emergence of technology breakthroughs for the use of antibodies as therapeutics for a range of illnesses, Search For A Cure in partnership with the MA Department of Public Health are hosting a roundtable dinner discussion with experts in the field on Friday, January 13th at the William A. Hinton State Laboratory. There are high hopes for these therapies as the next line of defense and possibly prophylaxis to protect the uninfected from HIV. We will report what we learn from the meeting for our web community soon after.
Cytolin - a monoclonal antibody therapy for HIV?
In 2009 Search For A Cure conducted an investigation into a monoclonal antibody called Cytolin which seemed to have some precedent warranting further research. Dr. Eric Rosenberg of Massachusetts General Hospital was convinced enough to perform some in vitro examination of the antibody in his laboratory. In 2010, Search hosted an informational meeting at AIDS Project Los Angeles at which we promised to update our friends and colleagues in the community as to the status of this research. Following is an article update including an interview with Dr. Rosenberg as to the current status of his research. Please click read more to the left for the full article.
HIV State Bill H2908 - Commission to Modernize HIV Management
The National HIV strategy released out of Washington along with Bill Gate's annual letter on HIV and the CDC's new High-Impact Approach to HIV Prevention have recommended exploratory commissions be created to evaluate and modernize state's treatment and transmission protocols in exactly this fashion.
Representative Sciortino's bill is an answer to that call. The bill includes provisions not to touch any of the current funding for any programs but in fact to expand that funding and seek outside supplements to do so.
We believe along with our supporters that in light of new and presently underutilized, isolated, or underresourced technologies that this is the best strategy to align the fight against HIV in Massachusetts.
